Boat Race

In the summer of 2023 I began subconsciously filling an A5 sketchbook with faces upon faces. Weird faces. Ugly faces. Beautiful faces.
A practice I have had since I first remember picking up a pencil as a child.
This series came to me at a time where I was reevaluating my practice, I was using the drawings as a comfort, not realising I had been creating a whole new series.
A few months later I decided to create a book to showcase these ink portraits. I named it Boat Race as it’s the Cockney rhyming slang for face.
